Summer Camp Policies

Drop-off is at 9:00am every morning. Students may not be allowed in the building any earlier than 8:45am, and will not be allowed in the studio any earlier than 9:00am.

Pick-up is every afternoon at 4:00pm, with the exception of Friday which will be our Showcase Performance Day. Students MUST be picked up as close to 4:00pm as possible. Normal Orlando Aerial Arts classes start as early at 4:00pm, and childcare will not be provided after this time.

Late Arrivals and AbsencesLate Arrivals and AbsencesLate Arrivals and AbsencePlease bring students on time so they can fully participate in every class and activity. Students who arrive late will not be able to participate in class until they can be given a proper warmup from an instructor.

At this time, we do not offer any make-ups or refunds for missed classes or activities. Additionally, absences may result in campers not being able to perform a particular skill in the showcase at the end of the week. They will still be able to participate in the showcase for the skills they have mastered in other classes they have attended.

Campers will need to bring a refillable water bottle, a high-protein lunch, and a healthy, mess-free snack. At this time, students do not have access to a microwave or refrigerator, so please keep this in mind when packing food. Sodas, juice, energy drinks, and sports drinks are not allowed in the studio during classes, but may be brought for lunch. We suggest campers bring a jacket/coverup for breaks, and socks for ground classes. While we have many yoga mats at the studio, campers are welcome to bring their own, we will use them frequently.

Campers will not be permitted to use their cellphones or devices during classes, but may bring them to use during lunch. Students are NOT allowed to take pictures or videos without permission from their instructor. Students are NOT allowed to take pictures of videos of other students, no exceptions. Any valuable belongings should be left at home. Lockers are not provided, and OAA is not responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Students are asked to wear well-fitting athletic attire that is suitable for lots of movement and activities. We recommend a leotard, biketard, or tight-fitting top that will not lift when upside down and leggings. Students must wear bottoms that cover the back of the knees; tights must be worn with shorts—no pajamas, oversized shirts, jackets, or sweatpants, and no jeans. Avoid clothing with any snaps or buttons that could damage equipment or injure the camper. Clothing with zippers is not allowed as it can damage the equipment. All jewelry must be removed for aerial classes and performances, and long hair must be pulled back.

(Note: Bare midriffs are not recommended for aerial classes. Any exposed skin will be more prone to burns and bruises from the fabric or lyra.) Campers who are not in proper attire may not be able to participate in some classes and activities. The dress code is set for safety reasons and must be followed closely.

We ask that all campers practice good personal hygiene during the week we spend together. We will all be in close proximity and sharing equipment, so let’s all do our best to stay clean and healthy. This includes coming to class in the proper dress code, with long hair tied back. Wash hands after using the restroom and frequently visit our hand sanitizing stations between classes and before lunch. Alerting an instructor of any injuries, particularly scrapes and cuts that are bleeding and need to be bandaged. Not sharing water bottles, food, or snacks with other campers, and staying home if running a fever or feeling sick.

Safety is our top priority at OAA. Campers must be able and willing to follow the rules, regulations, and instructions to participate in classes and activities. We have designed our camp to be a fun and exciting experience for all levels. Students will be climbing, spinning, swinging, going upside down, using props, and having contact with other students. Disregarding safety regulations will not be tolerated. Safety inspections on equipment is done regularly at OAA, the camp director will be happy to answer any questions regarding rigging/equipment safety. A strict dress code is enforced for our campers. Please read the section on dress code carefully, as students may not be able to participate in certain activities or classes if they are not dressed properly. We encourage campers to practice any of our ground activities at home. This includes things like dance, flexibility, hula hoops, balancing, etc. We do NOT recommend or condone practicing aerial or circus without a trained instructor present, and without proper equipment and rigging.

Parents, guardians, friends, and family are not permitted to watch camp classes or attend any lunches or activities. No exceptions. We do, however, happily invite everyone to come support our campers in their Showcase Performance. They will be able to show off all of the skills they have been working on during the week.

At our circus arts camp, we are committed to creating a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment where all children can feel safe, valued, and respected. We encourage kindness, cooperation, and the celebration of each individual’s unique talents.

If any bullying behavior arises, we approach it with understanding and a focus on constructive resolution. Our staff will work with the individuals involved to foster empathy, open communication, and positive behavior. Any incidents will be addressed promptly, with the goal of helping all children learn and grow together.

However, if a camper’s behavior does not improve after repeated interventions and efforts to resolve the situation, and if their actions continue to negatively impact the safety or well-being of others, the camper may be dismissed from the camp program. The decision to dismiss a camper will be made by the camp director and staff after careful consideration and communication with the camper’s parents or guardians.

Everyone deserves to enjoy their time at camp, and we are dedicated to maintaining a fun, safe space for all!
